Florida Public Safety Complex Utilizes Taco Products

Customer: Leon County Public Safety Complex (Tallahassee, Florida)

Objective: Provide an HVAC solution for a mission-critical facility housing public safety and emergency communications.

Work Completed: For a 24/7, 365-days-a-year mission-critical facility that combines public safety and emergency communications functions under one roof, changing occupancy levels required an HVAC system that could control varying loads and provide the required heat extraction. The building, which has a normal daytime average of around 150 personnel, can quickly increase capacity up to 400 in the event of emergency activation. H2 Engineering selected a chilled water system supported by Trane chillers piped in series and more than 300 Trux chilled beams to cover 90 percent of the occupied space. Taco’s LoadMatch® circulators and LOFlo injection mixing blocks were used to maintain a water temperature above dew point. Dew point sensors throughout the building monitor the temperature. Kelly Brothers handled the entire HVAC installation, including a first-time use of chilled beams….
